Tryouts

HV United 2026/27 Tryout Registration will be available starting April 1, 2026 through the button below. Click the link, then create an account – or log in to your existing account – and select the player(s) you wish to register.

HV United operates on a yearly soccer calendar that renews at the end of May every year. Tryouts are always held the last two weeks of May — with the youngest age groups the week before Memorial Day, and the older age groups the week after Memorial Day. These dates are set by UYSA (Utah Youth Soccer Association), not HV United.

U.S. Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer, the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), USSSA, and MLS NEXT have jointly confirmed updates to player age group alignment beginning with the 2026–27 seasonal year. With this update, governing bodies will move away from the calendar-year format (January–December) and return to a season-based model that runs from August 1 through July 31. To remain eligible for league participation and sanctioned competitions within U.S. Youth Soccer, MLS NEXT, EA, and US Club Soccer, all ALBION teams must follow this updated structure.

How do I sign up for tryouts?

When available, click the registration link above. The tryout fee is $20 and includes a training shirt.

Where are tryouts held?

All sessions of tryouts will begin on the east field of Rocky Mountain Middle School. Check-in starts 30 minutes before your scheduled time in the school parking lot.

Does my player need to tryout if they already played on an HV United team last year?

Absolutely. Team placement is not continued year to year, and most teams experience some roster shifting at tryout time. Especially in the 2026/27 year we expect team make up to shift dramatically due to new club affiliation (Albion SC Utah) and change from birth year to grade level player pools.

What if I cannot attend the tryouts?

Every effort to be there should be made. If a player MUST miss tryouts, coaches/trainers MAY arrange to have him/her undergo an individual tryout at a different time if the situation warrants — however, team placement will likely be affected. A player who will miss tryouts, should still register for tryouts so they can be tracked in the system. Additionally, you will need to let your applicable Director of Coaching and the Club Admin know so they can discuss options.

Do I need to attend both days?

If your age group has more than one day scheduled, yes players need to attend all days reflected on the schedule for their birth year. Often, the younger age groups will have two days of tryouts with shorter sessions, and the older age groups will have one day with a longer session.

Who will be in my kid's player pool?

Starting in the 2026/27 year, US Soccer has mandated that teams are created by grade level. This change will likely affect the composition of most teams, but not all.

What do I need to bring to tryouts?

Your player should come to tryouts appropriately dressed in athletic clothing with their own water bottle. You do not need to bring a ball. While cleats and shin guards are nice to have for comfort and safety, they are not required.
