HV United Academy
What is the HVU Academy Program?
The purpose of the program is to introduce young players to the game of soccer and provide less-experienced players with a program to develop their soccer skill sets in order to be ready for competitive soccer with HV United. The program creates a fun, challenging, and positive environment to work with players on an individual level and help them improve the technical and tactical foundation they need to compete at a higher level. It’s a great warm-up for competitive team tryouts end of May!
Who runs the Academy program?
The program is currently run by Ray McCarthy, a professionally licensed coach with a wealth of experience working with young children. He will direct the curriculum and supervise any additional paid coaching staff, such as older youth players from the HV United competitive teams program. This interaction creates great club unity, provides fun and entertaining mentors for the Academy participants, and improves coaching experience for our older players.
Who can participate?
It is open to all players aged 4 to 12 (birth years 2020-2013). Groups will generally be divided by birth year, so players will work amongst their peers at the same age and skill level.
When/Where does it occur?
There is one, eight-week session concurrent with the club Fall and Spring playing seasons. Spring sessions will be in late March through April/May, and Fall sessions mid-August through mid-October.
